First Couple of Days Off 07/02-07/04

Friday- After spending my first week in Alaska in staff training and the next two weeks on trips, I finally got my first day off. This came just in time as my former youth group was on their last day of their mission trip in Alaska. So after spending the majority of the day napping to recharge, I drove down to Anchorage to have dinner with them. It was great to be able to hear about their stories from the week and just catch up with everyone and my old youth pastor who has always been a huge part of my life growing up as a mentor. When I got home that night all the staff that was free got together and watched Brother Bear, which is something that is a necessity while in Alaska.

Saturday- We had a staff meeting since all staff was free and then I helped get the house ready for the next group coming in that night. I also helped push a 3 year broken down car out of melted concrete holes in the driveway so that we would have more room in the driveway. One of the other staff members and I took luggage over to the house I would be staying for a week and others would be staying at for a couple of days. We then went and tried to eat at what is supposed to be the best burger in Alaska but they were closed so I will have to try again. After we got something to eat we came back and passed out.

Sunday- I woke up and went to church at Awaken in Anchorage. It was a really unique time to be in a service where the seats were movie theater seats. After the service I called my parents and got a chance to talk to them and catch up on everything. I then went to a coffee shop where I tried Kaladi Brothers coffee and had kaladi for the first time. I spent the afternoon in that coffee shop working on things and then headed back to the house I am staying at. To end the night Rob (the guy who owns the house) and I watched a few episodes of the Chosen and had some really great theological talks and story telling.
