Yesterday we spent the whole day out on the road visiting all the recreation sites so we would know where to go. So we spent most of the day in a van driving around Alaska which was fun to see all the different places but also was exhausting. We ended the night at an Asian food restaurant where we meet a woman who is helping run the camp our first group is working with that I am really excited for. The camp works with current or former foster kids to help them through their traumas and give them a chance to just be kids with everything they have been through. After dinner I flopped in bed and passed out without even thinking about making a post.

Waking up the next day was a difficult one and I finally did something I did not think I was ever going to do; I drank coffee. When I say coffee I am referring to actual black coffee and not some super sweet Café made drink, and I have to admit that it helped me stay awake all day. After spending the morning going over training stuff, we got down into the nitty gritty of things by working out the details of the first trip I am helping lead and I found it such a great time to work things out and problem solve solutions. Our first crew up is from Texas and their group leader has a saying "there is no bad weather, only bad gear" and I loved that when I heard it tonight. I think that can be taken also beyond just bringing clothes to wear. One way I see it as no matter what you go through there is no bad experience, it just depends on how you handle the experience that causes it to be good or bad.
