I never really thought I would be the type to write a blog about my daily adventures but there are a couple of reasons I have decided to start one for my summer internship with Thirst in Alaska. One of those reasons is that I am taking a leadership internship credit through Anderson University and one of the requirements is for me to log my hours and summarize what I did. Now I could have just filled out some boring old excel sheet and sent that to my professor but what is the fun in that. The other reason that helped push me to make this blog is that I have been on Mission trips before for a week and have forgotten details about those trips that I did not think I would. I can not imagine trying to remember everything from living in Alaska for a Month to helping lead three different mission trips, so why not keep record to share with all my family and friends(or random strangers that stumble across this) but also for myself to look back in the future on this amazing experience I am about to have.

Traveling to Alaska was definitely an interesting experience that had some really cool moments and some really stinky ones. I was stopped by security during bag checks and to my surprise the reason I was stopped was because the twizzlers I had in my backpack(travel necessity) set off the scanner. Once they checked out my bag I was able to go board my first flight to Phoenix, which ended up being delayed for thirty minutes. I was in the middle seat and the two people next to me did not talk a lot. Once we landed in Phoenix I had to run to my connecting flight because of the delay but got on just in time. On that flight to Alaska I sat next to a really sweet elderly couple who told me all about their mission organization they founded teaching college students to become missionaries and about all their travels across the world. The reason that I had some stinky moments was because my seat was right night to the bathroom on the plan, so by stinky I mean actual stink. Yet through all that I am now in Alaska and settled into the house I will be staying at, ready for what God has in store for me next. I hope if you are reading this you stick with me on this journey and enjoy my stories just like I know I will enjoy the ride traversing through the unknown of what is ahead.
